Dr
Holly Erskine
Associate Professor Holly Erskine is a conjoint NHMRC Early Career Fellow with the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland. She is a Senior Researcher with the Policy and Epidemiology Group (PEG) at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR), where she leads the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Epidemiology and Services (CAPES) team. Holly is also an affiliate Assistant Professor with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington.
Holly completed her PhD in 2016, examining the global epidemiology of ADHD and conduct disorder as well as the long-term outcomes associated with these disorders, and was awarded the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Higher Degree Theses. She is a senior member of the group responsible for the burden estimation of all mental disorders in the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) and advises on the estimation of disease burden for ADHD, conduct disorder, and mental disorders among children and adolescents more broadly. Holly also co-led a programme of work which directly led to the inclusion of bullying victimisation as a risk factor for major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders in GBD.
Currently, Holly leads a project titled National Adolescent Mental Health Surveys (NAMHS) which involves conducting nationally-representative prevalence surveys of adolescent mental disorders in Kenya, Indonesia, and Vietnam. NAMHS will provide nationally-representative diagnostic prevalence data for six mental disorders in adolescents aged 10-17 years, while further measuring risk and protective factors, service use, and other factors related to adolescent mental health.
