Mrs Gabrielle Hunt

Gabrielle Hunt is a PhD Candidate at Australian Catholic University, and a registered psychologist. Her research focuses on the prevalence and prevention of child sexual abuse and sexual harassment, with a particular focus on faith-based settings. Gabrielle’s work examines safeguarding practices within faith-based settings and the broader implications for child protection policies and practices.

Her research is informed by her professional experience as a psychologist, where she worked extensively with survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours. This clinical background provides her with a nuanced understanding of both the impacts of abuse and the complexities of prevention and response efforts. Gabrielle’s work is interdisciplinary, drawing on psychology, child protection, philosophy and theology, and policy to explore safeguarding challenges and opportunities for reform.
