Professor James Scott

Professor James Scott is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who is the Research Psychiatrist at the Queensland Children's Hospital Child and Youth Mental Health Service and the Director of Youth Services at Ramsay Health, New Farm. 


James is a clinician researcher. He leads a programme of clinical and epidemiological research in children and youth. The overarching aim of his research is to prevent mental and developmental disorders in children and to improve treatments for young people living with mental illness. He was the recipient of a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Practitioner Fellowship (2016-2020), awarded for his research into prevention and intervention strategies to improve the mental health of adolescents.He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2022) being ranked in the top 0.1% of the World's population of scientists and social scientists reflecting the global influence of his research.
