Two years ago, a groundbreaking paper was published showing that nearly two thirds of Australian adults have experienced maltreatment as children. It was the first time data like this had ever been collected in such depth and it sparked a public conversation on what needs to change.

Distinguished Professor of Law Ben Mathews is the lead author behind that paper and one of Australia’s key experts on how to prevent, detect and respond to child abuse and neglect. His work has also just uncovered what’s happening to children’s images online, and what needs to happen to stop it.
